The classical guitar has been designed to be picked and not to be strummed.
This doesn’t mean that you can’t strum with nylon strings, but simply that the result from a sound point of view is not exceptional.
A chord strummed with a classical will result with a really muffled sound because of a uniform equalisation of the treble, mid and bass.
This is the reason why we usually strum on metal string guitar with a thinner, brighter and more precise sound for chords.
